Bromley based Dylon Phibbs has been announced as the 24th driver to join the Formula Four grid at Brands Hatch this weekend.
The youngster will be racing for Chris Dittmann Racing and will line-up alongside Luke Williams who joined the team this week also.
It will be the 17-year-olds car racing debut this weekend as he graduates from karts and ensures that there will be 24 cars racing down towards Paddock Hill Bend.
He has a good pedigree behind him having been racing since he was eight, but he had been in karts since he was four. He has been competing in the Super1 British Championship and Formula Kart Stars and he was a winner in the South East Challenge Championship.
Amongst his plans other than racing in Formula Four Dylon wants to race in Europe this season to gain experience on tracks outside the UK.
Giving his reaction about being given the opportunity to race at Brands Hatch, Dylon said: “It’s very exciting to be joining BRDC F4, with this being my first single seater race at this level. I tested at Brands Hatch last week and my pace looked quick so I’m looking forward to seeing where I am compared to the rest in practice and qualifying this weekend.
“It’s going to be a great atmosphere at Brands Hatch with the DTM also racing there and I can’t wait to get to work with Chris Dittmann Racing.”
Team Principal Chris Dittman was also delighted to get his man and complete his driver line-up of young and hungry drivers.
He said: “I’m delighted to finalise our driver-line up for this weekend. With Luke Williams and now Dylon, we are confident we will be challenging the front runners sooner rather than later. Dylon had a successful test with us at Brands Hatch last Friday and we’re really pleased to welcome him to the team, it’s going to be a great weekend!”
