Kent County Cricket Club has today announced the very sad news that the Les Ames scoreboard operator, George Davison, has passed away.
George, one half of the famous ‘George and Doreen’ – husband and wife scoreboard operation, has worked the Club’s iconic scoreboard since 1978.
Commenting on the news, Kent Cricket CEO, Jamie Clifford said; “This is an extremely sad day for the Club. We are a close organisation and George has been a key part of our operation for so many years.
“George’s cheery personality brought a great deal to match days at the Club, and he will be sadly missed by everyone involved with Kent Cricket. Our thoughts are with Doreen and her family at what must be a very difficult time.”
The Club’s flag will fly at half-mast in his memory this week and everyone at Kent Sports News would like to extend our sympathies to George’s family and friends.
