Kent Spitfires will be looking to impress under the lights as the Sussex Sharks come to Canterbury for the YB40 clash on Wednesday night.
Under the guidance of stand in captain Geraint Jones, the Spitfires will be looking to continue their fine form in the shorter format of the game against one of the better sides in the tournament.
A great crowd is expected at the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence for the eagerly anticipated games against one of Kent’s near neighbours.
Starting the game in third place after four wins and three losses in their opening seven games, the Spitfires will be looking for a victory to keep pace with league leaders Nottinghamshire and Head Coach Jimmy Adams is expecting a tough game:
“We’ve competed and got some early results, which has put us in a decent position. It’s always nice to play a game that has meaning attached to it and the lads are all looking forward to it.”
“It’s always good to have a home fixture and it would be great if we could get some good weather with the game being played under lights.”
“It’s a top fixture for both teams. I believe they are one of the top sides in domestic limited-overs cricket so it will be a good outing for the lads.”
It has been a couple of weeks since the Spitfires played their last YB40 game against Northamptonshire losing by 29 runs with Sam Billings and Sam Northeast likely to be given the chance to open the batting once again.
Former skipper Rob Key was missing from the side that day and will be pushing for a place back in the eleven with loan signing Mitchell Claydon pushing for a first start in Kent’s YB40 team.
Meanwhile, Mark Davies comes back into contnetion after missing the past few weeks with injury.
Kent squad: Jones (c), Key, Northeast, Nash, Billings, Stevens, Harmison, Haggett, Claydon, Davies, Riley, Blake
