Autumnal wet weather decimated week twelve of the Kent Cricket League Premier Division with all five games abandoned after they had started.
Unsurprisingly, every captain who won the toss elected to field with revised targets and Duckworth-Lewis likely to come into play. League leaders Bexley made the journey to Minster and were in trouble early at 29 for 4, with two wickets apiece for Daniel Masters and Bill Prideaux. An unbroken partnership of 80 between Matt Stiddard (44) and Ben Aldred (23) looked to be repairing that damage before the rain fell.
Second placed Lordswood hosted Sandwich Town and had them in bother at 58 for 3 from 17 overs when play was halted. Thando Ntini claimed two of the wickets.
In third place, Tunbridge Wells travelled to Hayes and started like a runaway train. Chris Williams scored the only half century in the league on the day, blasting 57 from just 33 deliveries. That was in an opening stand of 93 with Christian Davis who finished on 37 not out at faster than a run a ball. They were on 107 for 1 from 13.2 overs when play ended.
Also on the road, St Lawrence & Highland Court visited Sevenoaks Vine and had the hosts on 57 for 2 from 14 overs when the players left the field of play for what turned out to be the last time. Ben Price was on 32 not out, having hit seven fours.
Finally, the battle at Holmesdale, who started the day one place above the bottom, and their visitors Blackheath, went the same way. Jas Bassan scored 28 and Tanweer Sikandar was on 20 not out as the Heath reached 79 for 2 from 14.4 overs but it was all to no avail.
As a consequence, Bexley remain top, Lordswood second, and Tunbridge Wells third with six games remaining. At the other end, Sevenoaks Vine and Holmesdale occupy the relegation spots with Sandwich, Blackheath and Hayes looking over their shoulders.
