Kent Kings spread the word

On Saturday the Kent Kings continued their promotional activities by attending the International Beech Cross event at Margate.Kent Kings2

Commercial Manager Neil “Nikko” Day was joined by Kings captain David Mason and recent signing Ben Morley and the Kings had a prime location on the sea front.

Having setup a stand with three bikes, some race jackets, kevlars, posters and flyers the Kings were kept busy throughout the day as people came to talk to the team about the new season. The Kings talked to some fans who could not wait for the season to start, to some people who didnt know much about speedway, and to some people who didn’t know anything about the sport.

The team were on hand to discuss all aspects of the sport to the people of Margate, and many children went away happy with a photo of themselves on the bike or with the riders. Over 1000 flyers were also given out with details of the Kings first meeting on the 6th May.

Commercial Manager Day commented afterwards; “It was a great day out with Ben and David who were on hand all day to talk to new/old and prospective fans. Always approachable and keen to discuss their sport they were both a credit to the club and the sport of speedway and hopefully the people of Margate and the surrounding area will join us at Central Park this season.”

As well as the promotional side of the day, the riders were also very keen to enter into the spirit of the day and were therefore pleased to pose with a very unusual new fan that the Kings picked up on the day, who was very keen to show his new found support of the club by posing with the riders in a Kent Kings race jacket.

Day continues the story “During the afternoon we were asked if a new fan could pose with the riders for a photo opportunity and as always we were happy to oblige. However I don’t think anyone was ready when a 6 foot gorilla turned up, put on a race jacket and posed for pictures with Ben and David. It certainly proves our fan base is spreading far and wide.”

Back to the more serious business in the coming weeks, the Kings will be making more appearances in the Kent area as they continue to promote the club and if anyone would like the Kings to attend an event please contact Neil “Nikko” Day at [email protected]
