The action continues thick & fast for the TouchTec Kings with a first National Trophy [NT] home encounter this evening [Monday 13/5] against Plymouth Gladiators (6.30pm start time).
Coming hot on the tails of an away win up at Stoke on Sunday to open their National League account, the win in the Potteries has not been without cost though, with in-form reserve Dan Gilkes suffering a leg injury which keeps him out of today’s NT visit of the team from Devon.
Under the rules the only replacement possible is a two pointer and in their hour of need Kent have turned to Jacob Clouting who is certainly well warmed up for the challenge of donning the Invicta race jacket again (he was a starter in this position for the Kings this time last term) after contributing a ten points tally to the Crayford Kestrels winning an amateur meeting at Iwade yesterday.
With Alex Spooner also out after the injuries sustained last week at Central Park, the two reserves will prove pivotal as Rider Replacement [R/R] is being used to cover the no. 2 slot in the riding line up. Clouting’s riding partner Nathan Ablitt can expect another busier than normal evening then and comes into the match in excellent fettle after a crucial paid 13 up at Stoke – his best yet return for his new team.
At reserve the visitors have also had to make a change from theit declared side with Jamie Bursill out with a broken wrist. Sheldon Davies who rode last season for Birmingham is adjudged under the revised averages to meet the two point criteria to slot in as Bursill’s replacement alongside former Futurama winner, Adam Sheppard. Also suffering from a wrist injury is Scott Campos and the visitors will themselves be using R/R to cover for his absence.
