If revenge is a dish best served cold, then for the hosts of Saturday’s return National Trophy [NT] fixture between Eastbourne and Kent might find the SLYDE Kings too hot to handle – such is the high in the camp after a brilliant comeback on Monday evening.
Trailing by six points at the halfway point, seven race winners in the last eight heats was enough for Chris Hunt’s charges to pull level and take a dramatic victory in the final heat.
An unchanged side travels to Arlington Raceway just over the county border in Hailsham just outside the seaside town of Eastbourne which gives the Sussex side their name, on Saturday (16/6) for a 7.30pm start time.
For the Eagles for whom losing that lead ended their hopes of qualifying from the NT Southern Group, there are two changes. Orpington-based Charley Powell is fit to ride this time and their young reserve, the other Charlie, young Master Brooks is available after missing Monday due to examination commitments for the schoolboy who faces the Kings for the first time in his fledgling career.
Following the senior NT action, they’ll be a Southern Development League [SDL] six heat match with the Arlington-domiciled Weymouth Wildcats taking on the Kent ‘Crayford’ Kestrels in the Kent junior side’s first SDL match of the 2018 campaign.
The action gets underway at 7.30pm at Arlington Stadium, Arlington Rd West, Hailsham. East Sussex, post code for SAT-NAV purposes: BN27 3RE
