October promises huge excitement at Central Park Stadium as the 2017 Kent Speedway season reaches its thrilling conclusion.
Having stormed into the top three in the Travel Plus National League [TPNL] courtesy of a brilliant run of form, the Kent SLYDE Kings have clinched their place in the title-deciding end of season Play Offs.
Though the details of who they face in the Play Off semi won’t be known until early next week, the date for their home leg has been announced today.
It’s Monday 2nd. October- with the annual Laurels (the club’s big individual championship) moved from that date to be held instead on either the 9th or the 16th (dependent on progress to the Play Off Final or indeed the date of completion of the two semis involving the top four in the division.)
Waiting in the Play Offs for Chris Hunt’s in form side are Belle Vue and Eastbourne – either of which could end up top of the pile come the deadline for qualification on Sunday (as indeed, if results go their way, could the SLYDE Kings) with the fourth slot now a straight fight between Lakeside and Mildenhall.
The Essex side are in the box seat at the moment; with the intrigue all then to based around who gets to face who in the semis. The side finishing top on the 24th will get the choice – if that turns out not to be Kent then it seems unlikely that the side with the ‘honour’ will want to pick the Kings who have been in rampart form home and away in recent weeks: including wins over Belle Vue and away at Mildenhall and at current league toppers Eastbourne.
Before the Play Offs take the centre stage that everyone associated with the Central Park club has coveted throughout this memorable campaign, the SLYDE sponsored side finish the regular TPNL season away at Stoke and then handover to the junior Code Kestrels side who are chasing their own title in the Southern Development League – with a double header against Plymouth Demons and Reading Racers at Central Park on Monday (25/9).
