Fans of Kent Cricket can map out their plans for the forthcoming season after the fixtures for 2014 were announced.
Under the leadership of Rob Key once again, Kent will begin their new season on Monday 7th April with a three day game against Loughborough MCCU at Canterbury.
They then begin the season for real a week later as they begin their first County Championship Division Two game away to Worcestershire on Sunday13th April.
The first competitive fixture at Canterbury sees Leicestershire come to the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Sunday 20th April for the start of the the County Championship game.
That will prove to be a feature this season with many of Kent’s four day games beginning on Sundays.
Kent Spitfires will begin their assault on the T20 Cup with an away fixture to Somerset on Friday 23rd May, whilst facing the touring Sri Lanka side under the lights at Canterbury the week before in a One Day game.
With sixteen games to be played across the group stages, Kent will play eight at home with the venue for the game against Gloucestershire on Friday 30th May yet to to be confirmed raising speculation it may be at Beckenham.
The Royal London One-Day Cup replaces the Yorkshire Bank 40, and will be played during the school summer holidays, with four home day/night matches in the 50 over format.
The schedule also includes the NatWest T20 Blast, which includes five floodlit,Friday night home fixtures, spread throughout the season. A sixth floodlit match, against rivals Essex will take place on a Wednesday night, 11th June.
Kent’s action packed 2014 schedule includes an additional 19 days of weekend and evening cricket throughout the season, with many of these on Friday nights under floodlights.
Kent Cricket CEO, Jamie Clifford commented on the announcement; “The 2014 schedule offers more opportunities to enjoy watching Kent Cricket more often.
“I hope as many in the county as possible will take the opportunity – with increased evening and weekend cricket – to support Kent in 2014.”
Kent Cricket supporters can also look forward to three bank holidays of cricket during 2014, cricket in Tunbridge Wells in May, and Canterbury Cricket Week in August.
Kent end their season with their County Championship fixture against Gloucestershire which begins on Tuesday 23rd September.
