A number of the Kent Cricket squad looked to maintain their fitness with a trip to Pegwell Bay parkrun at the weekend.
The likes of Sam Billings, Jack Leaning and Daniel Bell-Drummond got their running shoes on and took on the almost 5km course in Thanet on Saturday morning.
Lining up alongside the regulars and tourists at one of Kent’s many parkrun venues, the famous faces were clearly up for a bit of healthy competition with Leaning claiming the bragging rights by being not only the first Kent cricketer home, but first overall.
Leaning came home in a more than respectable time of 18 minutes and 20 seconds – registering his first ever time at a parkrun.
Wicketkeeper batsman Harry Finch wasn’t that far behind Leaning in a time of 20:03.
The next registered Kent cricketer back was spinner Matt Parkinson in a time of 21:23 in 12th place, just nine seconds and two places ahead of Sam Billings who finished in a time of 21:32.
Bowler Michael Cohen was to follow in 22nd place in a time of 23:02 with batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond next back in a time of 24:23 and was in 33rd place.
In blustery conditions, it was great to see the Kent cricketers out and enjoying one of the Kent parkruns as 131 people took part, supported by the many local volunteers that give up their time for the event to go ahead.
All of Kent’s parkruns start at 9am on a Saturday, are completely free for everyone, are fully inclusive and welcoming.
Yoo too could be like the Kent cricketers and start your fitness journey with a trip to your local parkrun.
