Kent clubs learn FA Cup fate
Kent clubs learn FA Cup fate
Kent had five representatives in the draw for the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup in association with Budweiser which has taken place this morning on talkSPORT radio. FA Cup3
If truthful, all five managers would fancy taking their place in the First Round Proper against the Gills and the like.
Kevin Watson’s Chatham Town, playing in the Fourth Qualifying round for the first time since 1931, were granted a home tie against St Albans City from the Calor League Premier Division. It could have been so much better for the Chats as in the last round St Albans ended the run of the Tonbridge Angels.
That said, the Chats boss will be happy with a home tie, and with the Gills away (at Port Vale) and Lordswood away to Canterbury City, Chats officials will be hoping that they will receive the full backing of the Medway football family.Chris Kinnear’s Dover Athletic meanwhile have another home tie – this time against Oxford City who currently sit at the wrong end of the Skrill North table. It certainly is a winnable tie for Kinnear and his side, as the manager looks to emulate old successes in the FA Cup and the club look for a repeat perhaps of that never to be forgotten Cup run that saw the Gills beaten at Priestfield!

The counties two Conference sides both travel – Dartford we’ll come to in a moment and our tie, if not one of the ties of the round, but first Jamie Day will take his side into the unknown as they head to Bristol to face Brislington of the Western League. The Wings will start as firm favourites to progress and join the Gills in the competition proper.

And then we come to the first Kent tie that the draw threw up – Ebbsfleet United v Dartford; Steve Brown v Tony Burman in one of the fiercest local rivalries that Kent has to offer.

All the ties will be played on Saturday 26th October, and all four ties will be covered by us at KSN.
