Kent clubs learn FA Cup fate

The FA have today announced the draw for the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round, with the fate of ten Kent clubs confirmed.

The regional draw sees no new clubs added at this stage, with ties scheduled for Saturday, September 28. Prize money of £5,625 is up for grabs for the winning sides, and £1,875 for those that lose.

Herne Bay host the only all-Kent clash of the round as they play George Elokobi’s Maidstone United. The Stones overcame Hampton & Richmond Borough in the 97th minute on Saturday, maintaining their reputation for cup drama. Their counterparts, on the other hand, brushed past Hendon 3-0.

Margate welcome Isthmian Premier side Horsham following a 4-0 win over Bognor Regis, while Ramsgate and Ashford United travel to Brackley Town and Chertsey Town respectively.

Dartford themselves face a trip to the coast, as an away tie against Worthing awaits. The Darts last reached this stage in 2021/22 and will be hoping they can better their fourth round defeat.

Tonbridge Angels will entertain Walton & Hersham at Longmead after victory there on Saturday. They secured a 2-1 win over Merstham, which continued their unbeaten start to the season.

Chatham Town’s opponents are yet to be decided, with the winners of Chichester City and Slough Town’s replay set to travel to The Sports Ground. Kevin Hake’s side completed one of the weekend’s ‘cupsets’, as they defeated Rod Stringer’s Welling United.

A replay between Cray Wanderers and Fingate & Winchley will take place on Tuesday to determine who hosts Hastings United. The Wanderers were held 1-1 at Flamingo Park following a stoppage time penalty.

Sittingbourne reached the third round with an audience, as their 1-0 win over Lordswood was broadcasted by the BBC. Their reward sees a home tie against Plymouth Parkway.
