Kent’s five remaining Non-League clubs in this season’s Emirates FA Cup now know who they must face for the right to join Gillingham in next month’s First Round Proper.
Arguably one of the most exciting draws of the season, the draw for the Fourth Qualifying Round was been made on Thursday lunchtime and thrown up some intriguing ties for our remaining five clubs with the ties to be played over the weekend of October 24th.
BROMLEY will be looking to get into Round One for the fourth time in the last six seasons, and Neil Smith’s side went close last season to upsetting Bristol Rovers in the First Round Proper – to get to that stage this time round the Ravens will have to travel and get past fellow National League side Sutton United.
CRAY WANDERERS who will be looking to make Round One for the first time in their long history are making just their second appearance at this stage – the only previous time was in 2005 when it was Grays Athletic who denied them… and now it’s fellow Isthmian Premier side Canvey Island who will stand in Tony Russell’s side’s way of creating another page of their illustrious history.
CRAY VALLEY PM are making their first every appearance at this stage, and Kevin Watson’s side have been rewarded for wins over VCD, Burgess Hill, Harrow and Aveley with a trip round the M25 to face National League side Maidenhead United.
Andy Hessenthaler’s DOVER ATHLETIC will look at the Cup for an escape to their National League struggles and raise some incredibly much needed revenue. How the Whites will be desperate for a repeat of last season when they reached Round Two before bowing out at League One Peterborough United. To get to Round One this time, Dover must get past traditional Cup Giantkillers Yeovil Town at Huish Park
Steve McKimm’s TONBRIDGE ANGELS will be looking to get to Round One for the first time since the “old” Tonbridge club reached that stage way back in 1972. But to do that, the Angels must overcome Taunton Town of the Southern Premier League but at least the game will be played at Longmead in Kent’s only “home” game of the round.
Elsewhere in the draw, because of the demise of Macclesfield Town, Chorley were the “lucky” side to get a bye straight into the hat for the First Round Proper.
