Folkestone’s Josh Kennedy will be fighting on the same bill as David Haye at The O2 in January.
The 24 year old will be on the undercard on Saturday 16th January after winning his first four professional fights, all by knockout.
Last time out in October, Kennedy knocked out Bulgarian Slayvea Stefanov inside two round at York Hall in Bethnal Green.
Kennedy is an exciting fighter to watch and securing a place on the undercard for Haye is a massive achievement for all the hard work he has put in over the years and he told KSN how the opportunity came about:
“It all started with a member of David Haye’s team contacting my manager and asked if he can supply some boxers for the under card.”
“They only wanted boxers that have had 6 fights or more, I didn’t fit this criteria but Steve Goodwin of Goodwin promotions still put my name forward as he he is confident in my ability and knows I belong on a big stage like that.”
“He told them of my respectful record now of 4 wins from 4 fights all by K.O’s, so they agreed to put me on the show as Steve assured them that I am an exciting fighter and will not let the spectators down.”
“It was only a matter of time before I was picked to do a big show like this, I have worked hard for 11 years as a boxer and now things are falling in to place.”
Having secured his shot against an opponent to be confirmed in the Super Bantamweight fight, Kennedy isn’t resting on his laurels and wants to take this chance and push on:
“If I do well on this stage it could potentially earn me a TV deal or new sponsors.”
“I am not required to sell tickets for this fight as they are all available from the O2 website on line, but I still urge my Team Kennedy fans to get tickets and come along as it wouldn’t the same without them.”
Haye will be making his comeback fight later that evening against Mark De Mori in the heavyweight division with the former world champion looking to make his way back to the top.
