Kedwell facing a race against time

Gillingham striker Danny Kedwell is facing a race to be fit for this Saturday’s game at Torquay United.

The former AFC Wimbledon man is struggling with a toe injury he sustained in the 1-1 draw with Port Vale last weekend and could now miss his first league game of the season.

Kedwell has been instrumental in Gillingham’s plans this season, scoring five goals in the process, but is rated at just 50/50 to make the trip to Devon.

Should Kedwell miss out, Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler has the option of reverting back to a 4-4-2 formation having employed a 4-3-3 against Port Vale.

That would see loan signings Frank Nouble and Jo Kuffour partnered in attack with Gills striker Stefan Payne having to be content with keeping the bench warm once again.

As for Nouble, it is believed that a deal has been agreed between Gillingham and West Ham United that will see the young striker stay at Priestfield for another month.
