Gillingham striker Danny Kedwell can’t wait to get back playing again, but not before he has enjoyed a break with the family.
Kedwell was instrumental in securing Gillingham’s return to League One scoring sixteen goals as they won the title just a few weeks ago.
The 29 year old AFC Wimbledon striker has proven to be a massive hit with the Gills fans since signing a couple of summers ago and having sat in the Rainham End as a fan for many years, Kedwell has lived the dream of playing for the side he supports.
With the season now over and the players having a well earned break, Kedwell told KSN how he was looking forward to getting away with the family, but already has one eye on next season:
“I can’t wait to get away and put my feet up and relax as the pressure is off. I’ll get away with the family and recharge my batteries and come back ready for next season.”
“It was a great season for the club and as a fan too, it was especially pleasing that we managed to win the title.”
“I’ve already had a look at some of the places we are going to be going to and I can’t wait.”
A couple of the fixtures already catching the eye are against the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United with Kedwell admitting he was looking forward to playing in front of large crowds:
“We are ready to go again and face these so called bigger clubs. Going to those kinds of grounds is going to be great for us and a great experience.”
“I can’t wait for the new season to come around and it’s just about sinking in now that we are champions.”
“It didn’t do at the time if I’m honest and I’m looking forward to kicking on and having a great season.”
At the weekend, Kedwell took time out to go and support both Andy Hessenthaler and Mark Patterson who have signed up to ride in Tour de Kent at the end of the month.
Both former Gillingham players will ride almost 200 miles to raise money for charity and Kedwell hopes as many fans as possible show their support:
“Being a local lad, seeing all these people doing it for two great charities is excellent.”
“I need a rest as it’s been a long season, although I would have been tempted to have done it.”
“It’s a privilege to know people that are doing it and it’s important for clubs like Gillingham, especially on the back of the year we have had to support good causes like this.”
