Ahmed Kashi was named in the EFL League One team of the week for his performance at MK Dons on Saturday.
The Algerian’s wonder strike from 25-yards was nominated as the League One Goal Of The Weekend.
Kashi has returned to his best form in recent weeks and has now added goals to his game. He also scored against Oxford at The Valley at the beginning of the month, his first goal since his audacious lob from the halfway line at Peterborough in August 2015.
Fellow deep lying midfielder, Jake Forster-Caskey, has also chipped in with five goals this campaign.
Another player back on the goal trail is Josh Magennis. After a 14 match goalless streak, Magennis has now netted three goals in the last four games.
He spoke to Valley Pass and had this to say:
“Obviously a striker is there to score goals but I know my place in this team and what the gaffer expects of me.
“Of course, he expects me to score goals but he expects me to do a multitude of other stuff.
“When you don’t score for the amount of time that I didn’t you’re going to have people asking questions. You just have to take it on the chin.
“Football can be up and down. It’s a rollercoaster. You’re never in the middle. You’re either sky high or you’re lower than a snake’s belly under a top hat.
“You’ve just got to go with it. If there is doubters, you’ve just got to keep your head down, work hard and try and prove them wrong.
“The form I’m in at the minute, I feel great. The midfielders and wide men are finding me. It’s making me play even better.
“It’s always nice to score. Since I’ve been here the support has been nothing but brilliant especially towards myself and the lads.
“Hopefully it’ll continue and not only myself, but more importantly the team, will go on a run and we can put some distance on whose below us.”
Jason Euell’s Under-23 side came from behind to win 2-1 at Ipswich on Monday afternoon. Josh Umerah and Taylor Maloney were the goal scorers.
Nicky Ajose, Lewis Page and Jason Pearce all started, and are likely to be involved in the game with Shrewsbury at The Valley on Saturday.
After winning 3-1 at Cardiff on Sunday, Charlton’s women’s team will be away to Arsenal in the quarter-final of the SSE Women’s FA Cup.
