Junior Raiders 3-8 Invicta Dynamos

An Ashley Jackson hat-trick and further goals from Juraj Huska (2), Brandon Webster, Anthony Leone and Jack Flynn saw the Invicta Dynamos run rampant during an 8-3 victory on the road against the Junior Raiders on Saturday.

The Dynamos were still without import forward Tomas Banovksy and took to the ice with 13 players in comparison to the home side’s 19.

The opening period was a tight affair and it took until 11.28 for the deadlock to be broken – Gian Pascale teeing up Courtney Grant to convert beyond Ben Clements for the first of the night. The home side were then pegged back at 16.44 – Ashley Jackson finding Juraj Huska who did the rest to level the tie. However the hosts would return to the changing room with the narrowest of leads – at 18.06 Casey Wilson found Thomas Wilson and he drilled over the line from distance for a 2-1 edge.

Despite entering the second period with a deficit, the Mos seized control of the game in the middle frame to turn the tie on its head. Gian Pascale was sent to the box for hooking at 24.11 and had to watch on as Mason Webster teed up Ashley Jackson who levelled the game at 24.38. The Dynamos then nudged ahead at 30.26 – Jackson on the scoresheet for the second time after work from Anthony Leone and Juraj Huska. A late strike from Brandon Webster at 38.04 then sent the visitors back to the changing room with a 4-2 lead following a period that was cut short due to ice trouble.

In the final period the Mos continued to pull away with four more to put the clash beyond doubt. The first came immediately at 40.36 – Jack Flynn scoring his first for the team since his summer move following build-up play from Juraj Huska and Anthony Leone.

Donald Campbell went to the box for charging at 42.48 and the Dynamos made the most of the extra man adding a sixth at 44.33 – Anthony Leone grabbed the goal with a redirect right in front on a long range Juraj Huska strike. Another followed quickly at 48.04 – Huska adding his second of the evening with an assist going to Brandon Webster. The visitors then tallied their last of the night at 53.25 – Ashley Jackson completing his hat-trick with extra points going to Huska and Webster.

Before the night was out the Raiders added a late consolation – Casey Wilson beating replacement goalie Owen Rider who stepped in for the final 15 minutes of play and still finished the tie with a 94.12% save percentage. Starting netminder Ben Clements had an equally strong game denying 21 of 23 attempts on his net.

So it was two road points for the Mos who continued their 100% start to the new season. Man of the match honours went to Juraj Huska who finished the night with seven points – two goals and five assists.
