Tunbridge Wells based Jota Sport are in confident mood ahead of the 90th Anniversary of the Le Man 24 Hour race.Jota Sport test at Le Mans

The team were out in Le Man last weekend to test ahead of the race weekend over the weekend of June 22nd and 23rd.  It gave the team the opportunity and their drivers an opportunity to experience the circuit and gather precious data ahead of the race weekend.

The three drivers who will be driving in the event for the team Simon Dolan, Oliver Turvey and Lucas Luhr managed to spend a good amount of time behind the wheel, as they tested and tinkered with the new aero package that they will use in the race itself.

With most other teams in attendance as well it was a good opportunity for the teams to size up the competition and came home seventh fastest in class, although the times are a bit off as the other teams were running their qualifying set-up unlike Jota.

The weather conditions that are famous at Le Mans also came into play offering everyone the opportunity to test and try out setups for differing weather conditions.

It will be Oliver Turvey’s first experience of the Le Mans race weekend and as a rookie he was required to complete ten laps of the circuit as a minimum.

Looking ahead to the event the McLaren Mercedes Formula One test driver, said: “It was an amazing experience to drive my first laps of Le Mans! The circuit is quite unique with its mix of racetrack, a lot of public road and very high speeds, so it is a great challenge.

“The conditions were quite changeable all day, which made testing difficult, but we were able to get through most of our programme. They also meant I could get a feel for the car with different levels of grip, which I am sure will be beneficial during the race. I can’t wait to make my Le Mans 24 Hours debut next week.”

There is a week-long build-up to the event with taking place on Sunday 15th June ahead of practice and qualifying sessions before the race on the 22nd June which gets underway at 3pm.
