An exciting new cricket coaching venture, Top Flight Sports has been launched by a series of coaching courses across Kent this Easter.
Founded by ex-England and Kent County cricketer Geraint Jones, ex-Kent professional cricketer and PE teacher Darren Scott and current Kent Cricket U17’s coach and experienced Kent League cricketer Dan Patching, Top Flight Sports offers expert cricket coaching for all ages and abilities from professional cricketers and experienced coaches.
Helping cricketers reach their potential through various levels of coaching from grassroots holiday camps to elite academies and 1 to 1 coaching, their first course for children took place last week at Kent College, Canterbury.
Batting, bowling and fielding skills were developed through net practice, various drills and fun game situations with some promising talent on show! The three days were topped off with Kent and Ashes winner Geraint Jones delivering a workshop on the sweep shot to the group. After the workshop the children took on the ‘Geraint Jones Super Skills Challenge’ where they had to sweep the ball through an ever decreasing target zone.
Geraint Jones said: “I am really excited to be igniting the passion for cricket that I had from a young age into a new generation of cricketers. These courses are a great way to start good techniques early, and also have lots of fun. Darren Scott and Dan Patching’s experience rounds Top Flight Sports into one of the most comprehensively experienced coaching teams in the county at the moment.’
The next courses this Easter for children aged 8-17 years are running at Kings Rochester School, 8th-10th April featuring ex-Kent and current Essex County Cricket Club professionals David Masters and Matthew Walker, and Horsmonden Cricket Club at Putland Sports & Leisure Centre Tonbridge 9th-11th April, run by Darren Scott.
A series of May Half Term and Summer courses are being launched shortly across Kent. Visit www.topflightsports.co.uk for more information and to sign up to receive a free newsletter service.
