Kiern Jewiss made a solid impression at Brands Hatch on his single-seater debut with two podiums from three races and this weekend he will contest the second round of the 2018 British F4 Championship as the series moves onto Donington Park.
Kiern marked his arrival on the British F4 scene with a thoroughly impressive debut at Brands Hatch at the beginning of the month as he converted his fine qualifying performances into two second-place finishes and a fourth-place finish in the reverse grid race.
Looking ahead to this weekend, Kiern heads to Donington Park for the second round of the season. One of Kiern’s favourite tracks to drive on, the 1.957-mile National Circuit is a fast-flowing track that puts emphasis on precise driving to carry momentum through the sweeping corners.
Kiern first raced at the circuit last year in only his second race weekend in the Ginetta Junior Championship and made an impression at the circuit as he reached the podium and picked up his first trophies of 2017.
The official British F4 test took part this Monday at Donington Park and it was Kiern and his Double R Racing team who set the pace with Kiern leading a Double R 1-2 in the morning session and finishing in second-place in the afternoon session. As Kiern heads to the circuit 3rd in the Drivers’ Championship, he is confident he can have a strong weekend with his eyes firmly set on notching his maiden race win in the single-seater series.
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend, Donington is a great circuit that is a lot of fun to drive on and one I feel suits my driving style. I had my first podium in Ginettas here last year so it’s a track I have fond memories of. This week started well with a strong test for the team on Monday so I think we’re in a good position heading into the weekend. We don’t know what the other teams were doing in the test but I think we’re in a good place and I’ll be working my hardest to reach the top step of the podium.”
