Kiern Jewiss takes to the track for the final time in 2016 this weekend as he heads to Bahrain for the CIK-FIA World Championships. 

The three-time British champion travels to the Persian Gulf hoping to end the 2016 season in the same manner in which it begun.

Jewiss’ first race of the year saw the Maidstone-based driver claim the WSK Champions Cup on his European debut – a remarkable result considering he qualified in 40^th. A similar result this weekend would conclude the 14-year old’s season in perfect fashion.

After a successful year as hosts back in 2013, the CIK-FIA World Championships returns to the Kingdom of Bahrain this year – the only time the calendar departs European soil this season. Fast and undulating, the route of the Bahrain International Kart Circuit is unanimously popular among the drivers. The track, very wide in places, allows different lines to be used to encourage overtaking.

Jewiss will be competing in the OK Junior category this weekend as he fights for the CIK-FIA Junior World Championship which will be contested by nearly 100 fellow competitors from 32 different countries.

Jewiss and his Forza Racing team have benefited from considerable testing in the Far East in recent weeks and the 14-year old heads into the week buoyed by the pace the kart has shown.

“This weekend will show off what Forza, GFR engines and myself have been working on over the last few months. It will be a new experience racing in Bahrain – the weather and temperatures will play a big part. It will also be great fun racing at night ”

Head of the MB Partners Young Driver Academy, Kieren Clark, feels that Kiern and his team have made some considerable strides forward in recent weeks and hopes that this weekend will be where all of these efforts are rewarded.

“Kiern and his team have been working extremely hard. Providing they all continue to work in this manner, I believe a solid result can be achieved. Kiern likes the circuit; he feels it suits his style.”

Jewiss will enjoy three practice sessions on Thursday the 17^th of November before the qualifying heats begin the following day. Saturday sees the two OK Junior pre-finals precede the weekend’s finale at 18:30 (local time).
