Having enjoyed his maiden race victory in BRDC British F3 at Brands Hatch last time out, 17-year-old Kiern Jewiss is looking to continue his fine recent form at the home of British Motorsport this weekend.
After his most impressive weekend in the series to date, the Kent-based youngster heads back to Silverstone for the second time this season looking to continue his recent charge up the Championship order. At his home track less than a fortnight ago, the FM Conway-sponsored youngster ended the weekend as the highest point-scoring driver thanks to his victory in race three and his P2 finish on the Saturday.
Strong performances and consistent point-scoring finishes in recent weeks has seen Jewiss promoted to fourth in the Drivers’ Championship standings, sitting on 287 points, now only 38 points behind Ayrton Simmons in third position.
This weekend, the Morgan Bros supported youngster will be looking to improve upon this season’s earlier visit to Silverstone where he collected two top-ten finishes. Historically though, the home of British Motorsport has proved a happy hunting ground for Jewiss, standing on the podium in all three races at Silverstone in 2018 on his way to becoming the British F4 champion.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Jewiss said: “The previous weekend was a brilliant one for myself and team! It felt absolutely amazing to finally be able to pick up my first win in the championship but that has been and gone now – the challenge is now to kick on again.”
“We’ve been really strong in the last few rounds so hopefully we can carry on that momentum going to Silverstone this weekend. With only two rounds left of the season, everyone will be looking to finish the year on the front foot and we need to be ready for that.”
