Jamun Racing couldn’t replicate their qualifying performance in the fourth race of the Formula Ford of Great Britain at Donington Park this afternoon.
Rookie Juan Rosso was in third place up until the penultimate lap when he was overtaken by Lasi Halminen, eventually Rosso finished in fourth place in his first race of the season.
It was the only success in race one as Jamun teammate who was giving chase to Cammish at the start lost places to Harrison Scott and Rosso, as a combination of brakes and tyres saw him fade into 6th place.
He did managed to get past his teammate briefly when Rosso made a mistake having just overtaken his fellow countryman.
Speaking about the mistake after the race, Rosso said: “It was my fault, my error. I won’t make the same mistake tomorrow.”
Meanwhile Luke Williams who had started the race in 6th place, after having issues in qualifying, finished in 7th place in the race as his issues seemed to continue. He will be hoping that he can do better in the two races on Sunday.
Dan Cammish is once again the man to beat as he raced off into the lead and stayed there after qualifying as the young racer qualified as the fastest man on the grid. He is fast becoming the man to beat and the favourite for the drivers’ title as he has now won all four races at the start of the season.
Cammish will once again be on pole position for tomorrow’s second and third races as he looks to make it a second hat-trick of race wins for the season.
Driver of the day however has to be Sam Brabham who is making his debut in Formula Ford this weekend, he showed some of the famous racing pedigree that befits the family names.
He came from last after a poor getaway at the start to finish in fifth place overall, he certainly looks to have a bright future in the sport.
The third race of the weekend takes place tomorrow afternoon at 15:07 as part of ITV4’s exclusive coverage of the British Touring Cars.
