Rochester based Formula Ford race team Jamun racing impressed in Friday testing on the first race weekend of the season.
They had all four drivers in the top six places with 2011 champion Scott Malvern first in the morning session and fourth in the afternoon session. The experienced Luke Williams was third in the afternoon session.
What was impressive for the Rochester based team was the speed of rooking Nico Maranzana who finished second behind Dan Cammish, as the JTR driver topped the timesheets in both of the testing sessions at Brands Hatch, ahead of qualifying tomorrow.
Speaking after the days testing, Scott Malvern who is driving the car for the first time this season after a last minute deal to race for Jamun was happy with his first drive of the car.
He said: ““I’m gaining experience with the car all the time. “We will have to see what we can come up with overnight and see if we can improve things.”
It just shows that the Jamun have some classy drivers if Malvern can set lap times like he did having not driven the car before today’s session. The fourth seat today was taken by Ben Anderson a journalist with Autosport Magazine.
Juan Angel-Rosso is sitting out the first race meeting of the season with a hand injury that he picked up in a testing event earlier in the month, which is why Anderson is driving the fourth car this weekend.
It looks like it could be a promising weekend for the Kent based racing outfit and its drivers, with qualifying tomorrow, they will hoping to improve their positions and head the grid for the races on Saturday and Sunday.
