Rochester based Jamun Racing today have announced a new driver for the remainder of the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain season.
Jayde Kruger the reigning Formula Volkswagen South Africa Champion will be joining the team to race the EcoBoost Mygale for the rest of the campaign starting at Oulton Park next month.
Kruger is now stranger to single-seater racing as the 25-year-old has ten seasons of single-seater racing experience. He also has experience of racing in Formula Ford, having won two Championships alongside the three Formula Volkswagen titles.
Speaking about the opportunity to drive in the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain, he said: “This is a chance that came up which I couldn’t let pass. I have kind of reached my peak in South Africa. What do you do, race the same thing again and again, year after year – and have a lot of fun – or do you try to accomplish something else? I’m looking forward to it; I’ll give it my best shot and see where we go.
“Initially this is a deal for this season with an option for next. This year I have a lot of circuit learning to do, and we will see what happens.
Kruger will be wasting no time in getting used to the car and the surroundings as the driver who is backed by South African chemical conglomerate Investchem will be out testing ahead of Oulton Park.
He added: “That will be interesting: I know what I am capable of, but I am not yet sure what will happen because I don’t know the car. I have never driven a turbo before and from what the team tells me throttle application is quite crucial. Testing will be important.”
The next round of the championship takes place at Oulton Park over the weekend of the 8th and 9th June, with rounds ten, eleven and twelve.
