Jackson makes Dynamos return

Twenty three year old shot stopper Glen Jackson has rejoined the Invicta Dynamos from the Romford Raiders.

Head Coach Kevin Parrish has moved quickly to fill the void left by departing goalie Andy Moffat after the Scot stepped down in a bid to spend more time with his family.

Netminder Glen Jackson first appeared for the Dynamos in 2007/08, after moving to Kent from the Lee Valley Lions, and he made 20 league appearances in his debut year, managing a save percentage of 91.79% and two shutouts in the process. The following campaign he would make five outings in Gillingham before later switching to the Romford Raiders and acting as a backup for the then EPL outfit.

In 2009/10 he would perform a similar role for the Swindon Wildcats before returning to the ENIHL South’s top tier and featuring 14 times for the Oxford City Stars. However, having now appeared for four teams in the space of two seasons, Jackson would finally find his place back with Romford where he deputised for Michael Gray – icing 14 times in 2010/11 for a save percentage of 91.57% and 16 times in 2011/12 for a save rate of 89.23%. Now though, having won a championship with the Raiders at the end of last season, the shot stopper returns to the Silver Blades Ice Rink Gillingham where he will share netminding duties with David Wride.

Speaking on the return of the club’s new number 89 Glen Jackson, Dynamos Head Coach Kevin Parrish revealed that his latest acquisition was a grafter and would not simply be in Kent to make up the numbers.

Parrish said, “Glen is a very hardworking netminder and will be pushing David Wride for that number one spot. He’s a more than capable goalie as he demonstrated last year at Romford by stepping up for seven games whilst Michael Gray was away. In those fixtures he helped the team record seven wins, including one against us and another against Chelmsford late on in the season when the pressure was on to keep the Chieftains at bay in a bid to claim the championship”.

Parrish then went on to say that his replacement for Andy Moffat may need time to settle in but that he was sure that Jackson would be ready when the time comes to throw him in the deep end once again.

The Coach said, “Glen has been sitting out games so far this year as number three at Romford so it might take him a couple of weeks to get into match practice as he hasn’t been on the ice for a while. But, as I’ve worked with Glen before, I’m sure he will put in the hard work necessary to get up to speed and will be pushing for a start very soon”.

Glen Jackson returns to a Dynamos side that is on the up with the team having won their last six games and going into the weekend looking to make it seven as they host the Chelmsford Chieftains in Gillingham in the NIHL South Division 1. Faceoff is at the usual time of 5.15pm on Sunday with a bumper crowd expected to attend to watch the side take on last season’s playoff champions.
