Netminder Davey Jackson will return for the Invicta Dynamos in 2013/14 after impressing Head Coach Kevin Parrish enough to earn a contract for the new campaign.Davey Jackson3

Scottish born shot stopper Davey Jackson only moved south at the start of the 2012/13 season having spent the rest of his career north of the border. Brief spells with the Dundee Stars, Edinburgh Capitals, Moray Tornadoes, Kirkcaldy Kestrels and Fife Flyers between 2008 and 2012 were eventually followed by a switch to Kent and the NIHL South Division 2’s Invicta Mustangs for the beginning of the last campaign.

Jackson played 520 minutes for the second tier outfit, where he would have expected to spend the entire season, but a netminder crisis at the Dynamos soon saw him receive an emergency call from Head Coach Kevin Parrish.

With Andy Moffat injured, namesake Glen Jackson unavailable through work commitments and David Wride released, the Scot quickly became the number one for the side as they finished their league campaign and moved into the playoffs.

However, despite his baptism of fire, Jackson seemingly revelled in the spotlight with his game developing at a rapid rate each time out on the ice.

His determined displays guided the Dynamos beyond the Cardiff NIHL Devils in the playoff quarter-finals before the side then narrowly bowed out against the Chelmsford Chieftains in the semis. Now he will be looking to go a step further as he rejoins the team for the new campaign alongside new netminding partner Chris Douglas – a new acquisition from the Bracknell Hornets.

Speaking on the return of Davey Jackson, Head Coach Kevin Parrish had nothing but praise for his 2012/13 displays and suggested better was still to come in 2013/14.

Parrish said, “Davey has earned his spot on this year’s team with a string of top displays towards the end of last season when he stepped in to help us out in difficult circumstances and did a top job despite being chucked in at the deep end. Even with the pressure of not having a backup, Davey went out, gave it his all and provided us with a genuine chance when it came to the playoffs”.

The coach then claimed that the shot stopper was benefiting from his appearances in the NIHL’s top league when he added, “Davey made seven appearances for us come the close of last season but already improvements in his game were there for all to see. He has a great attitude, is keen to learn at all times and I’m confident that his pairing with the vastly experienced Chris Douglas will only help him out further.”

“There won’t be as much pressure on him in 2013/14 but we’ve already seen he is more than capable of stepping up and I’m glad to have him aboard on a full time basis this time around”.

Davey Jackson, the club’s tenth summer signing, will wear the number 49 jersey for the Dynamos when he takes to the ice from early September.
