It was almost one way traffic as the Invicta Dynamos picked up two valuable points against their Welsh opponents on Saturday night.Callum Fowler7

Kevin Parrish’s side showed they are still in with a shout of securing top spot in the NIHL South as they cruised to the 9-1 victory in front of their own fans at the Silver Blades Ice Bowl in Gillingham.

Knowing nothing less than a win would do, the Dynamos hardly left second gear as they easily saw their way to the win that keeps them in touch with league leaders Chelmsford Chieftains.

The evening started in ominous fashion for the visitors with the Dynamos in front just 67 seconds into the game as Shaun Wild teed Andy Smith up to fire home.

Cardiff weren’t just to roll over though and showed some spirit to draw level ten minutes later as a great solo effort from Louis Lockwood made it 1-1.

It was to be the Dynamos that went in front at the end of the first period though with Juraj Huska rounding off a great move involving Smith and Callum Fowler with the latter bringing up his 300th point for the club.

The second period was even easier than the first for the Dynamos as their passing game came together with Arran Strawson, Elliot Knell, Danny Hammond and Marek Nahlik all getting on the scoresheet.

With the game beyond doubt, the Dynamos added a further three goals in the last period with Dan Fudger scoring the seventh, whilst Fowler was to bag a brace towards the end of the game as the home side pushed for double figures.

In the end, it mattered not what the scoreline was or the manner of the victory, but the fact the side take two crucial points that could prove vital come the end of the season.

The Dynamos are back in action again on Sunday night when they head to Lee Valley to take on the London Raiders in the SouthEast Trophy with face off at 7:30pm.

Their next home fixture sees league leaders come to Gillingham on Sunday 16th February for the much anticipated league clash with face off at 5:15pm.
