It was almost one way traffic as the Invicta Dynamos comfortably beat Milton Keynes Thunder 8-2 on Sunday night.
Needing a win to keep up the pressure on Wightlink Raiders and Chelmsford Chieftains at the top of the league, Kevin Parrish’s side did a thoroughly professional job on their opponents who came to Kent with just twelve players.
As for the Dynamos, they were without the services of Nicky Lewis who had work commitments, whilst it was revealed that Harrison Lillis had left the club in the week.
Davey Jackson was given the netminder’s position for the night, giving first choice Chris Douglas a well deserved rest.
It took just over a minute for the Dynamos to open the scoring with Danny Hammond rounding off a great move started by Arran Strawson.
The lead lasted just three minutes though as Thunder struck, but it only proved to inspire the home side with the Dynamos adding their second into the ninth minute when Juraj Huska fired home after great link up play from both Callum Fowler and Andy Smith.
Despite some stiff resistance from the visitors, the Dynamos were to go into the break 4-1 up with skipper Anthony Leone scoring in the 17th minute and Elliot Knell getting himself on the scoresheet just sixteen seconds before the buzzer.
Two unanswered goals in the second period saw the Dynamos stretch their lead ever further as they went past their opponents with ease with man of the match Dan Fudger scoring the first, with the second coming whilst the Dynamos were shorthanded as Callum Fowler turned the puck home.
The final period saw the Dynamos go into a 7-1 lead when Leone grabbed his second of the night in the 44th minute and despite Milton Keynes pulling a goal back eight minutes later, the home fans were to be sent home happy when Shaun Wild capitalised on a powerplay for the Dynamos with little over four minutes left in the game.
In the end, the Dynamos did what they needed to do against an opposition that gave their all, but there was clearly a gulf in class between the two sides.
The victory sees the Dynamos keep pace with the league leaders as Chelmsford moved to top spot with a 5-0 win over Bracknell Hornets.
It’s two away games for the Dynamos next weekend as they head to the Hornets on Saturday night in the league before a trip to the Isle of Wight on Sunday night to take on the Raiders in the SouthEast Trophy.
