The Invicta Dynamos went joint top of the league with an emphatic 8-2 thrashing of London Raiders in Gillingham on Sunday night.
Kevin Parrish’s side avenged their only defeat of the season, losing to the Raiders 5-2 back in September, to make it seven straight wins and nine games unbeaten.
They’d gone into the encounter with their local rivals knowing that two points would see them pull level with Wightlink Raiders and Chelmsford Chieftains at the top of the NIHL South and they weren’t to be denied despite conceding first.
The Raiders were in front with little over two minutes to play in the opening period, but the Dynamos were to draw level by the end of the first with Callum Fowler firing home his first of the night.
Once again, the pairing of Fowler and Andy Smith carved open the Raiders defence with both registering scores inside the opening five minutes of the second period before the visitors clawed one back.
Fowler was to claim his hat-trick before the period was over and Peter Beerling got himself on the scoresheet for a rare goal from the defenceman.
Going into the final period leading 5-2, the Dynamos went through the gears to show their opponents just how far they have come this season with Nicky Lewis adding to the tally in the fourth minute.
Within a minute and it was 7-2 as Smith showed what he is capable of as dispatched the puck after good work from import Juraj Huska.
The night was capped off on 56 minutes when man of the match Callum Fowler grabbed his fourth of the night, sent on his way by Shaun Wild with the Dynamos shorthanded and he fired home to the delight of the Dynamos fans who had packed into the Silver Blades Ice Bowl.
So, another two hard fought for and well earned points for the Dynamos who now travel to the Streathan Redskins in the cup next Saturday night before returning to league action on Sunday when they face Bracknell Hornets back in Kent with face off at 5:15pm.
