Braces from man of the match Nicky Lewis and forward Robbie Brown, alongside efforts from Daniel Fudger, Justin Noble and Andy Smith, saw the Invicta Dynamos complete a four point weekend with a 7-1 victory over the Bracknell Hornets in Gillingham on Sunday evening.

After a sluggish start on the road the night before the hosts wasted little time in claiming the lead back on their own ice as Nicky Lewis dispatched beyond goalie Mark Petch from just left of the target with a shot high into the net five minutes in.

On his next shift the forward then doubled his tally when Tim Smith’s long diagonal found him on the far post and Lewis made no mistake with a drive into the far corner to make it 2-0.

Eight minutes from time and the third line trio then added another when Tom Dennis’ drilled shot through traffic on the left side was diverted beyond Petch at point blank range by Daniel Fudger.

3-0 up at the break, the Dynamos were in command but guilty of easing off in the second allowing the Hornets a route back into the tie when Nick Minhinnick capitalised on a defensive lapse to fire beyond Andy Moffat and cut the deficit to 3-1.

They rediscovered their scoring touch in the last however, as four goals unanswered set them on their way to a comfortable 7-1 victory. Robbie Brown got the first of the quartet from close range for his first in Dynamos’ colours before, with his team a man down, Justin Noble chased down the opposition back line, won the puck in the final third and fired in to make it 5-1.

Four minutes from time and Brown then claimed his second, with a well placed shot into the roof of the net from right of the target, before club captain Andy Smith got off of the mark for the new campaign with a backhand effort into the near top corner to complete the night.

So it was two wins from two meetings with the Bracknell Hornets from the opening weekend of the season for the Dynamos who netted twelve goals and conceded just two across 120 minutes of hockey.

Man of the man on Sunday was three point hero Nicky Lewis whilst lone Bracknell scorer Nick Minhinnick took it for the visitors. From here the Dynamos now prepare for next Sunday’s home tie against the Streatham Redskins with faceoff at the Silver Blades Ice Rink Gillingham at 5.15pm.
