The Invicta Dynamos showed all their class on Sunday night by thrashing the Chelmsford Chieftains in the SouthEast Trophy.Danny Hammond4

Kevin Parrish’s side were on top form as they comfortably beat one of the better sides to come to Kent with a battling 5-0 win.

The night started with a minute’s silence for fan Christopher Rushton who sadly passed away on Friday and what was to come over the next sixty minutes of action did him proud.

It was the Dynamos that were on the front foot from the off as they took the lead in the tenth minute with import Juraj Huska rounding off a fine move that involved both Callum Fowler and Andy Smith.

Shorthanded for their second goal just a minute later, Fowler showed all his class as he breezed down the ice before firing past the Chelmsford netminder.

An attritional second period saw both sides lose players to penalties with Dynamos skipper Anthony Leone having to sit out the rest of the game after picking up two 10 minute infringements.

However, the Dynamos were to extend their lead further in the 38th minute when Huska bagged his second of the night on a powerplay as he slammed home from Fowler’s deflected shot.

After great work at the end of the second period to kill off a five on three for the visitors, the Dynamos were to score goals four and five in the opening five minutes of the third.

It took just three minutes for Danny Hammond to grab his first of the night after good work from Nicky Lewis and Arran Strawson with Hammond capping a fine night by going solo for the fifth as the Dynamos oozed class scoring despite being shorthanded once again.

The Chieftains threw everything they had at the Dynamos with netminder Chris Douglas facing forty shots without conceding and rightly won the man of the match award.

Victory sees the Dynamos joint top of the SouthEast Trophy group on two wins along with Chelmsford and Wightlink Raiders, whilst they end the weekend six points behind Wightlink in the league with two games in hand.

They now face two away games next weekend in the league as they head to Milton Keynes on Saturday night before heading to Chelmsford just 24 hours later.

The Dynamos are back at home on Sunday 19th January against league leaders Wightlink Raiders with face off at 5:15pm.
