The Invicta Dynamos ended their league campaign with a victory that secured them second place in the league.
Going into the game, Kevin Parrish’s side knew nothing but a win would do against the tough London side with Wightlink Raiders going into Sunday night sitting second, but with a trip to Champions – the Chelmsford Chieftains.
Without the services of the suspended Eriks Ozollapa, the Dynamos also took to the ice without both Haydn and Taylor Wootton, along with the veteran Grant Baxter.
In the end, it mattered not as the Dynamos were comfortable victors against a side that clearly had one eye on next weekend’s Southern Cup Final.
There was little under two minutes on the clock when the home side opened the scoring, Jacob Ranson finding Conor Redmond in front of goal and the Irishman made no mistake.
A long pass down the ice from Ondrej Zosiak on 14:22 found captain Nicky Lewis and he roofed the puck into the net.
Just twenty one seconds later and it was 3-0 as Ranson showed his silky skills to go solo and score a fine individual goal.
Neither side could trouble the scorers in the second period, but the game was put beyond doubt on 42:49 as Harrison Lillis’ effort from distance was tipped home by man of the match Redmond.
In the end, the result proved to be just what was needed as Chelmsford and Wightlink played out a 2-2 draw in Essex that secured the Dynamos second spot.
Speaking to Kent Sports News after the game, Kevin Parrish spoke of how proud he was of his players this season ahead of the play-offs in a few weeks time with the Dynamos set to face Milton Keynes Thunder.
