The Invicta Dynamos maintained their fine recent run with a 3-1 win over Solent Devils on Sunday night.
Kevin Parrish’s side went into their only game of the weekend without the services of Adam McNicoll, Damien Welch and Bailey Wootton, but still had more than enough firepower to beat their South coast visitors.
The game was slow to get going and the first period proved to be largely forgettable with little goalmouth action.
Both teams had goals washed out with the Dynamos having theirs scrubbed out for the goal coming of its moorings, whilst just before the break Solent thought they had scored, only to see it wiped off the scoresheet as the puck had sneaked through the goal netting.
It took until the 27th minute of the game for the deadlock to be finally broken with import Ondrej Zosiak firing home from the blue line, leaving Solent netminder Samuel Calder grasping thin air.
The second goal of the night came early in the 34th minute and it was the Kent side that doubled their lead with Steve Osman picking up the puck in his own half, dancing down the ice before evading his marker and slotting home.
At 2-0 up going into the final period, the Dynamos pretty much put the game to bed in the 44th minute when Conor Redmond was left unmarked a yard out and he made no mistake after good work from Josh Condren and Eriks Ozollapa.
Solent weren’t to be denied though and Damien King’s hopes of a shut out were thwarted in the 51st minute as the visitors made the most of a powerplay. Richard Facey was given far too much time and space in front of goal and he buried the puck past the impressive King.
The game got feisty in the remaining minutes as Solent looked to take the game down a level with Ralfs Cirencis trading blows with Condren.
It proved to be in vein though and despite puliing netminder Calder in the remaining minute, Solent couldn’t salvage anything from the game and the Dynamos held on to two more vital points.
The victory sees the Dynamos climb to fourth in the NIHL South with games in hand on those above them.
Next weekend the Dynamos entertain Milton Keynes Thunder on Saturday night before heading to league leaders Chelmsford Chieftains on Sunday evening.
