The Invicta Dynamos got back to winning ways in emphatic style with a comfortable 15-5 victory over MK Thunder on Sunday night.
Swiftly putting the league defeat to the Cardiff NIHL Devils behind them, Kevin Parrish’s side looked to return to being victorious once more and they couldn’t have done it any better at the Silver Blades Ice Bowl in Gillingham.
The NIHL Southern Cup encounter saw both Andy Smith and Callum Fowler return to the roster, with Grant Baxter steeping up from the Mustangs, but both Danny Hammond and Peter Beerling were missing for the Dynamos.
It was a tight start to the opening period with Smith giving the Dynamos the lead in the 6th minute and despite conceding a couple of minutes later, captain Anthony Leone put the home side back in front in the tenth minute.
The Thunder weren’t to roll over though in the opening period and were level once again just a minute later, but a Juraj Huska goal and another from Smith saw the Dynamos go in at the break 4-2 up.
It took almost ten minutes of the second period for anyone to find the net and it was Thunder who reduced the arrears to 4-3, but that served to inspire the Dynamos who scored three unanswered goals with Smith completing his hat-trick, whilst Marek Nahlik scored his first goal at home and Dan Fudger made it 7-3 shortly before the break.
The Dynamos were sensational in the final twenty minutes adding a further eight goals with Huska bagging his second of the night just 59 seconds after the restart.
Leone was to grab his second just a minute later to make it 9-3 and despite Thunder getting their fourth in the 52nd minute, it proved to just spur the Dynamos on.
Huska grabbed his hat-trick goal in the 52nd minute to make it 10-4 with Nahlik adding another a minute later. Shaun Wild was to get in on the scoring action on 55 minutes to make it 12-4 and Smith capped a fine individual performance, scoring his fourth of the night with just 79 seconds left on the clock.
There was still time for three more goals though as the short handed Dynamos took no notice of Milton Keynes having a powerplay to score another breakaway goal as Nahlik fired home.
Once again fellow import Juraj Huska showed his silky skills to score his fourth of the night to make it 15-4 and despite conceding with just 15 seconds left, the Dynamos closed out the game to the delight of the home support.
The victory sees The Dynamos pull to within a point of group leaders Chelmsford Chieftains with a game in hand and next weekend they head to the Isle of Wight on Saturday night for their latest league game against the Wightlink Raiders before returning to Kent to take on the Streatham Redskins in the cup on Sunday night.
