The Invicta Dynamos put Saturday’s defeat behind them with a comfortable 10-6 win over Solent & Gosport on Sunday evening.
Kevin Parrish’s side showed why they are one of the favourites for the title as they got back to winning ways in front of their own fans in Gillingham.
Still looking to find the form they are going to need to with National Ice Hockey League South title, the Dynamos made slightly hard work against the South coast opponents.
They were to be one goal down with little over a minute on the clock, but five unanswered goals in the first period saw them race into a 5-1 lead at the break.
Imports Juraj Huska (with two) and Jakub Klima were to get the first three goals of the night, whilst Danny Hammond and Shaun Wild capped off what was a great first twenty minutes for the Dynamos.
It wasn’t to be quite such one way traffic in the second period though with the visitors pulling it back to 6-3 at the end of forty minutes.
Skipper Anthony Leone was to score the only goal of the period for the Dynamos as Solent & Gosport began their resistance.
It was to get slightly nervy in the final period as Solent & Gosport pulled the game back to 7-6 at one stage, but Huska was to score his third of the game, with Leone and Hammond bagging their braces.
Callum Fowler was to wrap up the victory in the last minute of the game with the Dynamos content to take the two points and move on.
The Dynamos have just the one fixture next weekend with league and cup holders Chelmsford Chieftains coming to Gillingham on Sunday night. The two sides have already met in the cup a couple of weeks ago in what was an entertaining 6-6 draw.
