A battling ten out of ten performance from the Invicta Dynamos saw them smash ten past Cardiff NIHL Devils on Saturday night.
The visitors came to Gillingham looking for a fight and they certainly got that from the Dynamos who stood up to their Welsh opponents and showed them who was in charge of this NIHL South Division One clash.
With just the one defeat to their name for the season so far, the Dynamos were keen to put on a show for their fans and they certainly did that as they raced into a three goal lead at the end of the first period.
It took just four minutes for the Dynamos to open the scoring with record points scorer Andy Smith rounding off a great move that saw Juraj Huska put the puck on a plate for the forward to bury.
Fellow import Jakub Klima was to become the second of the Dynamos players to get himself on the scoresheet after nine minutes when he slammed the puck into the roof of the net.
The Dynamos capped off the perfect period in the 16th minute when Shaun Wild lashed the puck home.
Sensing the game was getting away from them, the Devils decided they were to come out for the second period fighting, and that’s literally what they did.
Twice Alan Lack was involved in scuffles on the ice, whilst Harrison Lillis showed he was more than happy to throw the gloves off and go toe to toe as the Dynamos made a good account for themselves in what had turned out to be a physical battle.
There was still time to add one more to their tally before the end of the period as Danny Hammond fired home on 35 minutes.
It was completely one way traffic in the third and final period as the Dynamos went through the gears and showed how much they want to be title contenders come the end of the season.
Hammond was to open the scoring in the third period with Anthony Leone, Huska, Elliot Knell, Smith and Lack all getting themselves a goal as the Dynamos breezed past the visitors.
The hero of the night though and who rightly got the man of the match was netminder Davey Jackson who was given the nod ahead of Chris Douglas between the sticks.
His shut out showed what depth Kevin Parrish’s roster has and they got to Solent & Gosport on Sunday night looking for another two points.
