Following his appointment as Margate manager on Monday afternoon, Jay Saunders has not wasted anytime in beginning the process of shaping his squad for the 2019/20 Bostik League Season.
This afternoon Saunders has announced that four players have left Hartsdown Park, with Alex Flisher, Frannie Collin, Jack Paxman and Tom Mills all leaving the club following the conclusion of the 2018/19 season.
He followed that up this evening by announcing the first two signings of the closed season, with youngsters Ben Swift and Jordy Robins both agreeing to remain with the club for the coming season.
Speaking about signing with the club, defender Swift said: “I’m really pleased to have signed for the new season. Last year was a challenging campaign but one I felt I developed and learnt a lot from. It was nice to get a place in the team of the year and something to build upon.”
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to carry on where I left off, work with Jay and the group he brings together and prepare for the new season.”
Joining him for another campaign is Robins a midfielder who really did excel when Saunders took the reigns midway through the season and more will no doubt be expected of him next season as he continues to develop as a player.
Just as delighted Robins said: “I mentioned last season how much I enjoyed playing under Jay and the confidence he instilled into the way I play my game.”
“Being part of the team during that unbeaten spell was fantastic and is encouraging for the future and something I wanted to be a part of.”
