There will be a Mediterranean feel to Brands Hatch this Sunday as the famous motor racing venue hosts the inaugural Festival Italia, with Formula 1 and supercars, racing, plus Italian-themed food and music.
Track action will be headlined by Italian-themed races for Ferrari and Alfa Romeo cars, plus demonstration runs from special historic cars. These will include Grand Prix machines from famous Italian racing names including Ferrari, Dallara, Benetton, and Minardi, spanning several eras from the classically-modelled front-engine machines of the 1950s to the V10-propelled machines of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s with their hair-raising engine tones!
The Formula One cars will be complemented by stunning sports cars from Abarth, Osella, and Alfa Romeo, and iconic rally monsters from Lancia such as the Delta Integrale and legendary Stratos, plus parades of Italian cars and bikes.
The theme will extend to the venue’s off-track areas too, with hundreds of cars, bikes, and scooters set to appear in extensive vehicle displays. This will include a healthy contingent of Italian stallions from the Ferrari Owners Club which will attend in an official capacity, with countless other cars from Fiat, Maserati, and Abarth, plus legendary two-wheeled marques Ducati, Vespa, and Lambretta attending too. Visitors can also see the racing cars close-up with a free VIP-style grid walk during the lunch break.
In addition there will be plenty of opportunities to indulge in Italian cuisine with the Italia in Piazza markets featuring delicacies including olives, Biscotti, Torrone, street food, speciality breads, oils and vinegars. Visitors can also register for wine tasting sessions with official event partners Zonin 1821 at the event website: www.festivalitalia.com
Other off-track entertainment includes live opera music adjacent to a picnic area, which will create a distinct themed atmosphere, whilst younger visitors can enjoy bouncy castles, funfair rides, face painting and a free playground.
