Gillingham head into their weekend showdown with second bottom Morecambe knowing that a win will go a long way to dispelling the specter of relegation that has loomed large in recent weeks over Priestfield and defender Remeao Hutton wants three points.

Speaking to KSN this week, defender Hutton told us, “We know that they are below us in the table and know that if we win the gap will be twelve points.”
“We know that we must keep working hard – I think as well that we have struggled with a bit of luck as well given that in recent games at least we have created a lot of chances and they have been blocked off the line or whatever.”
“We have hit the crossbar in both our last two games so I think we must keep doing the good things and the win will come!”
“We have shown a togetherness the last few games – been fighting and running a lot harder for everyone. I think we’ve noticed that since the start of the Walsall game and I think it’s just continued from there; don’t know why it took that long, but we can’t look back and just have to look to the future!”
“We are all disappointed as well at the moment,” Hutton went on. “We know the talent that we have in the dressing room and as I said, the luck just hasn’t been with us now, but hopefully that will change in the future, especially starting Saturday.”
“I do think that we are getting better every game now – people were saying we weren’t creating enough chances, now we are – I think Tuesday (against Fleetwood Town) was the most that we have created in a while, and hopefully that will continue on Saturday and the goals will follow.”
“We were close to winning on Tuesday – we were unfortunate as we really had enough chances to win the game. Everything though seemed against us as I said.”
“We are always getting one game closer to the win that we all need. We have been performing a lot better. Before I think as soon as the opposition scored, heads would have gone down, but I think that we are showing more resilience to keep pushing.”
“You could say that Tuesday was more disappointing than some of the other defeats as we had enough chances. We must take confidence from the game which is that on another night we score three or four to win the game. That’s something we haven’t seen a lot in this season.”
“Moving forward everything is about winning and creating the distance between the bottom of the League and for us as quickly as possible.”
“Last year Doncaster won twelve in a row, and we believe in our squad and there’s no reason that that can’t happen here – finish strong and take each game as it comes!”
“The manager is allowing us to play with a lot more freedom and the talent that we have in the squad, if everyone plays and does their job and what they are capable of doing, I have no doubts that we can win the rest of our games!”
“I know that that is a big ask as the luck and stuff hasn’t been with us, but I think the Gaffer has instilled into us running stats and working hard for each other and not just doing the technical stuff, but having the fight on the pitch.”
“We know that that teams below us are going to fight as well but we have to fighter harder and that must be the case on Saturday!”
