Less than a week after taking more points at the fastest circuit in the UK, Thruxton in Hampshire, Jake Hill and the BTCC heads up to Silverstone, the ‘Home’ of British Motorsport.
“We qualified again in the top-six, running in P5 where we’d qualified when a puncture caused us to pit and finish P22. To then get up to P11 and P9 and score more points was really rewarding.
“Silverstone holds some special memories – winning here at the Silverstone Classic in 2018 and 2019 – racing alongside F1 in the Porsche Supercup in 2015. I’ve always loved racing here, and am extremely proud to have been part of the British Racing Driver’s Club since 2010, firstly as a ‘Rising Star’, and this year as part of the ‘Superstars’ Elite programme, so I’m hoping we can continue our qualifying performance here too.
Hill has kept extremely busy, running today (Thursday) at Donington Park in the John Danby Racing-prepared Lola B2K/01 alongside owner Simon Watts, then on Friday coaching Callum Black in the Mini Challenge before ‘shaking down’ his Honda Civic Type-R later on in the afternoon.
“It’s been great driving the Lola – just a special car – and I love working with Callum so that will be fun. But Saturday morning we are back in the BTCC car and I’m loving being in the car so regularly after such a long delay getting started.
Hill and team-mate Sam Osborne will be in action in for the two 40 minute long Free Practice sessions this Saturday (26th) at 9.40am and 12.15pm, with the crucial qualifying session at 3.10pm – shown as always live on-line at itv.com/btcc.
Sunday’s 22 lap races will again be shown live on ITV2 – as last week – with race one at 11.25am, race two at 2.45pm and the final race of the day scheduled for 5.20pm.
“We’ve taken points now in 8 of the last 9 races, qualified in the top 7 at all six events and I’m confident we’ll be strong – but it’s always so incredibly close here – I expect the whole grid will be covered by less than a second in qualifying, so it should be fun!
