Two teams in midtable in the Southern Counties East Football League meet on Wednesday when Holmesdale entertain Tunbridge Wells.
There is just one place between the two teams with the visitors in tenth place with thirty-seven points from twenty-five games and Holmesdale one point behind .
Both clubs come into the game on the back of wins on Saturday. Holmesdale ended a nine league game winless streak with a two-one victory over K Sports with all three goals coming in the first half. Bailey Dell Martin put them ahead in the tenth minute before Tarik Ibrahim levelled just after the half hour mark. Max Ash scored what turned out to be the winner one minute before half time.
Meanwhile, Tunbridge Wells trounced fourth placed Deal Town four-nil. Fjord Rogers opened the scoring in the twentieth minute and Matt Gething made it two, five minutes later. There was no further scoring until the last ten minutes in which Rogers scored two more to claim the match ball.
Although Holmesdale hadn’t won in the league since mid-November, they did enjoy some Challenge cup successes including a three-nil victory over Wells. On that evening Reuel Powell-Downey claimed a first half brace and Kameiko Pope-Campbell added a third after an hour had passed.
When they met in the league at the Culverden Stadium, way back in mid-August, Rory Ward scored the only goal in the fourteenth minute to give Holmesdale the three points.
Although neither side can harbour promotion hopes this season, or are in danger of relegation, both will want to win it and a competitive game is to be expected.
