In form Holmesdale recorded another good win at Oakley Road over the league leaders K Sports on Saturday with a remarkable come back from two down in the last twenty minutes.
The game started at a very quick pace on a slick, but very good pitch especially considering the hours of rainfall prior to kick off.
The visitors took the lead on 3 minutes when a dangerous cross from the right was turned into his own net by a Dale defender, and only four minutes later K Sports were 2-0 up when Bailey Pearce surged into the box and despite having his initial shot saved he was first to pounce on to the rebound and score from close range.
From there the pace of the game slowed and Dale picked themselves up from the shock of the Paperboys impressive start, but they were unable to create any real chances and were often frustrated by the well drilled Sports offside trap.
The only effort of note was a header from a free kick which was well saved. Late in the half the visitors created further chances with having one shot saved and putting another header just over the bar.
The second half took a while to get going and K Sports looked to be comfortably in control until the introduction of Michael Daramola gave Holmesdale an attacking spark and extra pace down the wing.
Dale eventually got back into things on 70 minutes when Andy Constable struck a superb 30 yard free kick that crashed into the net off the underside of the bar and all of a sudden the momentum of the game changed completely.
Constable went close with a header soon after before Dale drew level on 74 minutes when Daramola was played in by a great ball from Constable and coolly slipped the ball under the keeper to equalise.
Sports had one good chance to get back in front saved before Holmesdale went in from for the first time with seven minutes left when Daramola broke free to set up Kamieko Campbell to finish from ten yards out.
With The Paperboys completely stunned Holmesdale then sealed the win on 88 minutes when an under struck clearance from the Keeper was returned straight over his head into an empty net from 35 yards by Constable to complete a fantastic win for Lee Roots and Tony Beckingham’s side.
The veteran striker was mobbed by his teammates and ten applauded off the pitch as he was substituted a minute later.
Dale now move up to fifth in the table while K Sports stay top after suffering only their second league defeat of the season.
