Hollands joins Swindon on loan

Danny Hollands, one of the lynchpins of last season’s promotion team, has joined Swindon on loan until 5 January.

A loan for the player has been rumoured for a while but Bournemouth was thought to be his likely destination.

Hollands played 43 league games last season, scoring 7 goals, and also made 3 cup appearances, scoring in the FA Cup match at Halifax. He has made another 14 appearances this season but has slipped down the pecking order recently.

Hollands has struggled to come to terms with the Championship, though undergoing surgery on his foot in the summer probably hampered his build up to the season.

Swindon currently sit in sixth place in the League One table and Hollands’ experience with Bournemouth and Charlton will be invaluable to the Robins.

Eggert Jonsson is a similar type of player to Hollands but missed the trip to Bristol City after picking up an injury in training on Saturday. Jonsson should be fit to travel to Turf Moor at the weekend.

Whether the deal is extended or made permanent remains to be seen. Charlton are long time admirers of Swindon’s highly rated midfielder, Matt Ritchie.

It is possible the Addicks may try to fashion another swap deal with the Wiltshire club.
