Holcombe Hockey Club player Jennie Hoyte is a European champion following the England women’s over-50s’ 1-0 triumph over the Netherlands in Nottingham on Sunday.
England progressed to the last-eight with three wins out of three in the group stage, then beating Spain 5-0 and Germany 3-0 in a shoot-out after a 2-2 draw to set up a final clash against the Netherlands.
Hoyte, winner of Holcombe’s top-scorer award in 2022/23, played in five of England’s six matches, scoring two goals in England’s opener against Wales and adding to her tally in the quarter-final match against Spain.
