Holcombe Hockey Club have confirmed the signings of Mayra Lacheno, Milagros Arteta and Candelaria Paroli to their Women’s 1s side.
Brad Read’s side currently sit tenth in the Premier Division with two wins and a draw from their opening eight matches, with three games left in Phase One.
Lacheno is a Mexican international and drag-flicker with 28 caps to her name. The 25-year-old also won a silver medal with her country at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.
Arteta is an Argentinian player who can play across the frontline or in attacking midfield having spent time in the United States with Liberty University and Boston College.
With Liberty, Arteta was included in the USA Big East All Tournament Team of 2023 and helped Liberty win the regular season title.
She appeared in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games for Argentina and also represented La Selle in Argentina for six years, helping the team win their first championship in 2019 and has a number of other achievements across both her youth and senior career to date.
Finally, Paroli is an Argentine defender who has also represented La Salle in Argentina, playing with Arteta as they won their first title in 2019.
She has also played for Cordoba, her hometown, at a number of youth levels from under-14 to under-21 as well as the senior side, competing in the Cordoba regional league and national club hockey league for extended periods.
The 25-year-old has played with Arteta throughout her La Salle career.
On joining the club, Lacheno said: “I am very grateful to have this opportunity with a great team, I am sure it will be an amazing season.
“Everything comes at the right time and I am more than ready to enjoy it.”
Arteta added: “I’m excited to play in the Premier Division and to get the play with a club with such a trajectory like Holcombe HC!”
Paroli commented: “I am very happy and excited to be able to play with Holcombe HC in a top league.”
Meanwhile, Head Coach Read added: “I’m looking forward to having Mayra as part of this group, her attacking flair and drag-flicking will be a massive addition to the Women’s 1s squad.
“Mili comes with a wealth of experience playing in top leagues around the world.
“Her attacking mentality and skill sets will be a great addition to our group and i’m excited to see her in action.
“Candelaria has a strong defensive skillset and I’m sure she will bring some Argentinian flair to our squad and defensive group.”
Lacheno will wear the number 11 shirt and Arteta number 18.
Entry is free for tomorrow’s Premier Division double-header at Holcombe Park to potentially watch the new signings make their debut.
