Jake Hill will be lining up on the grid at his home track this weekend as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season gets underway at Brands Hatch.
The 20-year-old BRDC ‘Rising Star’ will be racing for In2Racing for the opening round of the 2014 campaign as well as making his debut in a new series.
It was a last minute deal put together to see the talented driver from Tunbridge Race doing what he does best. He will be racing in the first ever meeting of the 991 Spec Carrera Cup GT3 cars.
Speaking about the opportunity, Jake said: “Having worked so hard over the winter to get things together funding wise I really thought that we had run out of time. This came along very late and thanks to some mega people going out of their way to help I am racing!
“I’ve had to miss the season opener for the past couple of seasons, so to be out and part of the buzz of the first race meeting, especially for the new cars, is incredibly exciting.”
Jake has yet to set foot inside the Carrera but will do some when the cars get the first opportunity to take to the 1.2 miles of Brands Hatch on Friday.
Jake added: “I will drive the car for the first time in Free Practice on Friday so until then we won’t know where we’re at pace-wise. [My team mate] Paul Rees has had some positive testing and that will help, and Nick Dudfield and the guys are a great bunch, so I can’t wait.”
“Once I’ve driven the car on Friday I’ll know where we are….I’m competing in the main Pro category against guys like Michael Meadows and Josh Webster so it’s gonna be really tough….but I’m used to not having any testing so it’s nothing new! ”
You will be able to watch Jake racing as part of the support packages broadcast on ITV4 during their coverage of the BTCC on Sunday.
