Jake Hill is back on track for the second round of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at his home circuit, Brands Hatch.
LThe team heads into the second round of the season fresh off the back of a strong start to the year at Donington Park. Two trips to the podium highlighted a positive opening to the 2024 campaign as Jake Hill recorded a brace of third-place finishes and a fifth-place to him – leaving him lying 3rd in the Drivers’ Championship with 42 points and 16 points adrift of leader Tom Ingram.
Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport and their WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport will make the trip to the shortest circuit on the calendar at just 1.21 miles in length. Drivers lap well below the 50-second mark, tackling the natural amphitheater track which includes the iconic Paddock Hill bend notorious for its roller coaster-like elevation changes that leave the drivers with little margin for error.
With navigating through the traffic being another task to consider, further emphasis is placed on Saturday’s qualifying session which gets underway at 15:25, as the drivers battle it out to secure a starting place on the grid for the opening race of the weekend.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Hill said: “I’m really looking forward to hitting the track at Brands Hatch this weekend, being born and raised in Kent, I grew up watching races at Brands and then eventually began racing here, so it’s always a special weekend for me. We showed some good pace at Donington and collecting some silverware showed we are more than capable of fighting for top honours this year.
Brands Hatch Indy is always an exciting weekend, there’s very little room for error and you have to be so precise as the lap times are so close, so qualifying will be as important as ever. We’ve gone well here in the past and I’ll be looking to give it everything I have over the course of the weekend!”
