Hill ready for Thruxton challenge

The third round of the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship takes Jake Hill to the high-speed Thruxton circuit in Hampshire, as the Kent racer aims to continue his strong start to the season.

A heroic race win at the opening round at Donington Park followed by another podium finish at his home circuit of Brands Hatch means Jake enters the weekend fourth in the championship standings with 69 points.

Thruxton has proved a happy hunting ground for the ROKiT MB Motorsport driver in recent history with a trio of podium finishes at the season-opener last year coupled with a front-row start and second-place result during the series’ second visit – meaning the Brit finished no lower than fourth in all six races at the circuit in 2021.

The Hampshire circuit maintains the highest average speed of any track on the BTCC calendar and pushes both driver and machine to their limits – with tyre management a key focus of the weekend. Twelve high-speed turns make up the track which, at 2.36 miles in length, is also one of the longest of the year.

As a result of his fourth place in the championship standings, Jake will have 7.5s of hybrid power available to use per lap in Saturday’s qualifying session with seven total deployments in the opening race on Sunday.

Heading to Thruxton, Jake looks forward to getting back behind the wheel of his WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport for another positive weekend.

“We’ve had a good start to the year and we’re all working hard to keep that going. I really enjoy Thruxton as you’re truly on the limit for every corner of every lap. It’s really fast and it’s a great circuit for the fans as well. I’m looking forward to getting out there – we were strong when we were here for the season launch so hopefully we can replicate that form this weekend.”

Coverage of the weekend’s action will be available on ITV4, ITV Hub and the ITV Motorsport website – with Saturday’s qualifying available to watch online at itv.com/btcc from 15:15. Live on ITV4 from 11:00 on Sunday, viewers can catch all three races alongside a wealth of support series action. Live timing will also be available for all sessions via TSL-Timing.com.
